Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities reported they were contacted by a man who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Police say they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then found many other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.

A senior official said the incident left him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
