Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group access places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
